Our billing process was set by the State Legislature. For those of you who pay property taxes seperate from your mortgage, it works exactly the same as tax assessments. Each November, the assessments are mailed out to the property owner . This is the only assessment notice that you will receive. The assessment includes two seperate coupons, the first half coupon on the right side of the billing, due on or before December 20 of the current year and second half being due on or before June 20 of the following year. If you elect, you may pay your entire assessment at the December 20 deadline. The water you are paying for is for the next year.
This applies to our yearly billing customers only.
The following sample assessment will give you an idea of the look and what to expect when you receive it. The terms of payment located on the back of each assessment show the due dates, interest rates, and specify that there is no allotment for unused water, nor any irrigation allotment allowed if your account becomes delinquent.
Liens are placed on unpaid accounts per Idaho code in the month of July, these liens will show as unpaid amounts when title searches or research is done on individual property checks. These liens are not turned over to collection agencies for collection at this time. Terminations begin 90 days after the due date shown on each payment coupon.

What do we do if we sell our property during the year?
Please notify your closing agents or real estate agent, that you have an assessment, that is either still due, or has been paid by you, so you may be credited for your payment. This also allows the district to be notified, so we may change our records of ownership.
Payments can be made in person at the office, or paid through the mail. Checks, cash or money orders are accepted. You can also pay with a credit or debit card. Please do not leave your payment in the paper box or in the door, use our drop box near the fire hydrant in the office parking lot.
Why can't I pay $20.00 per month?
Partial payments are not allowed yet, that is set by the State Legislature. At this time you have the option of all or the individual halves. We also cannot accept payment on the second half if your first half is unpaid. All accounts must pay the oldest amount due first, with penalties and interest if applicable.
Why did you return my check?
Payments that are postmarked after the due date, will be returned for the penalty and interest charges. We do not process any payments that are late without the penalty and interest. We allow a ten (10) day mail turn around rate. We have on occasion, had local mailing take longer than 10 days to reach their destination. We use the post mark again, to verify if the payment was mailed within the 10 day allowance.
Why do I get a bill for a bare lot that doesn't even have water?
All property located in the irrigation district will receive a billing for a base assessment, included in the base assessment is the charge for maintenance and operation of the system, which is used for upkeep on the water lines supplying water to the different parcels. In past years, there was also a fee for repayment of the loans from the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation. When the loans were paid at the end of the contracts, that particular charge was eliminated from the base bill.
